Director of Children's Ministries: Bethany Coleman
Director of Nursery Ministries: Beth Davis
We offer a fully-staffed nursery for all worship services, Sunday school, Wednesday nights and other special events as needed. Parents volunteer in the nursery on Sundays on a rotational basis.
Sunday School Ministry:
9:45 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. - Graded classes for 2 year-olds through 6th Graders where children learn that the Bible is God’s Word to them. They learn what God is like through the Bible stories of both the Old and New Testaments. They learn that they can talk to God through prayer and that He loves them and wants to have a friendship with them.
Acolytes:
Children in the 3rd through 6th grades assist in the worship services.
Children’s Church:
Preceding the Sunday morning sermon during the 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. service, children from Pre-K through 1st grade follow the Children’s Church leaders from the Sanctuary to the Chapel for a “kid-sized” church service.
Club 56:
Club 56 is made up of 5th and 6th Graders who meet on Wednesday evenings. They eat supper together in the Christian Activities Center then gather for various age appropriate Bible study lessons, recreation and fun. During the summer and occasionally throughout the school year special activities are planned.
W.O.W (Worship On Wednesdays):
W.O.W (Worship On Wednesdays) is where Pre K through 4th Graders gather together during the school year after Wednesday night suppers. They meet in the children’s building from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for Bible stories, prayer and fun activities.
Vacation Bible School:
Children turning 3 years old before the previous September through 5th grade are invited to participate in a week-long VBS from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. during the summer.
Confirmation Class:
This course is open to 6th Graders and above and takes place in the spring. At the end of the course students have the option to make a public commitment to Christ and to the church on Confirmation Sunday.
United Methodist Camp:
A week at summer camp is available to students going into the 4th through 12th grades. Our children will be going to Warren Willis United Methodist Camp on during the month of July 2011.
Scouting:
Lakewood UMC is very active in scouting programs of the community. Call the church office for more information about our groups that meet weekly.
