Dear Lakewood Family and Friends,
This next Sunday, February 12, is this year’s JUST BE IT SUNDAY at Lakewood!  This has become an annual event for us as we just ARE the church, and worship God through our service to the community.

We will begin with a half-hour worship service in our sanctuary from 8:00-8:30.  We will sing and pray and receive God’s tithes and our offerings with music from the chancel choir, and I will share a brief message based on Matthew 25:31-46 where Jesus said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.”  (verse 40)

Then we will head out to serve.  The following are the schedule and instructions that will be distributed at the close of the worship service.
8:00 am Worship at Lakewood UMC Sanctuary
8:30 am Buses (CAC circle) depart for Community Service
8:45 – 9:00 am Work Projects begin!

(1) WORK PROJECTS AT LUMC CHRISTIAN ACTIVITY CENTER (CAC)
    (1) First Coast Women’s Services – Ruth Bailey, leader
    (2) Teacher Supply Depot – Ralph & Judy Hiden, leaders
    (3) Salvation Army Aprons – Carol Hudson, leader
    (4) Salvation Army sorting – Amanda Figart, leader

(2) Salvation Army – Glenn Green & Bryan Cooksey, leaders 900 West Adams Street. Directions: Travel north on San Jose. Follow Hendricks Ave. over the Main Street Bridge. Go left on Adams Street. Follow Adams until you get to Lee Street, turn left on Lee. Salvation Army is at the corner of Lee and Adams. Parking lot entrance is off of Lee Street.

(3) City Rescue Mission – Jim McCrea & Gary Foster, leaders 426 South McDuff Avenue. Directions: From LUMC go north on San Jose. Take the Fuller Warren bridge (I-95). Go west on I-10. Take the South McDuff Exit. Turn right. City Rescue Mission is up ahead on the left.There is ample safe parking.

(4) The Sanctuary on 8th Street – Laura Jacqmein, leader
120 E. 8th Street. Directions: From LUMC go north on San Jose to the Main Street Bridge. Go over the bridge and stay on Ocean Street until you get to State Street. Go left on State Street and immediately right on Main Street. Stay on Main until you get to 8th Street. Go right on 8th Street. Cross Hubbard Street and The Sanctuary is on the right.

(5) Teacher Supply Depot – Jan Daniel & Ellen Cannon, leaders 3108 Lenox Ave. Directions: From LUMC go north on San Jose Blvd. Take the Fuller Warren bridge (I-95). Go west on I-10. Take the McDuff Exit (south). Turn right. Go one block to Lenox and turn left. Teacher Supply Depot is two blocks down on the left. (formerly Lackawanna Elementary School)

(6) San Jose Elementary School – Mike & Amy Edwards, leaders 5805 St. Augustine Road. Directions: From LUMC go north on San Jose. Turn right on University Blvd. and stay on University Blvd. until you get to the intersection of University & St. Augustine Rd. Turn left at the light (Walgreens) and travel a block or so. San Jose Elementary is on the right. Can’t miss it! Ample parking.

This will be another fantastic opportunity for us to BE THE CHURCH and to have fun doing it!  The weather should be comfortably cool, and you’re encouraged to dress for work.  No suits and ties allowed in this worship service!

Please remember that tickets will be available at dinner tonight and on Sunday morning for the Youth Auction to support this summer’s youth choir tour.  Tickets are $20 for adults and $2 for children.  Don’t wait to get yours - these sell out quickly!
